My name is James Harmer and I am a graphic designer living in the Netherlands. I think your business needs me.
Not convinced? Well let’s see how I can change your mind…..
I have a BA (Hons) in professional media-digital design. Throughout my career I have developed a solid repertoire of digital design skills and print industry related knowledge. I am thus a multi-disciplined designer with a wealth of experience in many areas of design, from traditional print design, large format, brand and logo design through to digital, web and app design. I adore developing brand identity with strong customer story/journey affecting skills with previous experience in the British film industry. I am an avid 3d and 2d animator/motion artist and like to use my skills whenever appropriate. Nowadays I take a particular interest in UX design.
My most recent role was as a middleweight multi-discipline designer at The Celtic Manor Resort, a 5-star Hotel and golf resort located in Newport (South Wales, UK), working in a busy marketing department. The Celtic Manor is a prestige brand, which attracts high-end business both from the UK and abroad. It has many varied and elements which all need a specialist individual approach to their marketing and design, requiring the skills to translate design principles and Celtic Manor’s brand ethics across the whole portfolio of the hotel, to a level befitting the company. See more of the facilities and quality of the Celtic Manor Resort here.
I spend my free time building electronics projects and designing and programming robotics. I have built a Prusa I3 3d printer from scratch and love engineering objects to print on it. I am currently creating a robot army to take over the world and enslave humanity if Google doesn’t get there first.
Some of my many skills and talents
This is the how and when
This is what I do when I'm not being designy
I started cycling in 2009 and love it, going on at least one cycle holiday a year but also many more mountain biking trips. We have some of the greatest technical downhills in Europe designed by Rowan Sorell and the black runs can be really exciting.
I wanted to get something special and individual for my girlfriend for Christmas. I opted for a goal completely out of my comfort zone to try something new! I learnt to be a jeweller. Well surely it’s better to burn while aiming for the sun? Thankfully I put in my homework and didn’t burn but hyper learnt some awesome new skills and impressed a lot of people in the process!
I completed the Cardiff half marathon in 2013 and then relaxed, going to get in training to do it again in 2016.
A little about what I'm up to in the real world
